about Galina Shevlak
Galina Shevlak is a Russian medical doctor and artist who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis while in medical school. Ms. Shevlak, now based in Westchester, New York, has been in a wheelchair for the past decade. As a result of the disease she is unable to hold a pencil or brush. Instead, she uses her finger to draw digital images of colorful representations of family and nature. Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. The cause of multiple sclerosis remains unknown.
